Um, so a quick recap.

Friday - Um, I don’t remember Friday.

Saturday – Pete’s wedding, which was charming, drove to our crappy hotel, stayed up until two watching the Safin vs. Ferero game which lasted FOUR hours, was too jazzed to sleep afterwards, finally fell asleep at four.

Sunday – Woke up, took a painful shower (the water temperature fluctuated!!!), drank 6 cups of coffee to wake up, went to a brunch at Pete and Jenny’s new house, drove home grumpy and emotional.

Monday –Was woken up at eight, did yard work until seven, went out for pizza.

Tuesday – Woke up, ate toast, cleaned out the garage, made some tea, sat and wrote this on the computer.

I could talk about my weekend, or I could be lazy and just copy from Seth’s livejournal. I think we’ll go with the second one.

~The below was written by Seth Francis Studer~

Remind me to never buy a kitchen table so expensive that you're not actually allowed to eat on it.

---

We're going to my cousin's wedding this weekend. My mum, since the time she was a wee lass, has viewed her brothers in a virtually divine light. She worships them. They (with a few exceptions...she has many brothers) have never really given her much time or affection - she being little more than a familial afterthought, eight years younger than her closest sibling. She is dimly aware of this, and overcompensates by trying to impress them.

She's gotten a lot better with age, but even today she is profoundly grumpy and irritating as she prepares for another meeting with her family. Everything must be perfect and on time.

Of course, none of us kids actually care. When we were little, we were always intimidated by mum's family (they all being good-looking super-wealthy successful yuppies). Now that we're good-looking super-wealthy successful yuppies (with the added benefit of super-intelligence, wit, and charm that many of our cousins lack...this particular cousin who is getting married is a noted exception), we just kind of write off mum's family. Camille and I laugh about how intimidated they once made us, though we still probably hold a few members in contempt.

But it's no laughing matter when mum is running around like a chicken with her head cut off, frantically preparing to meet and impress men who have never really given her a second thought. It's really kind of sad.

That's how I see it, anyway.

~ The above was written by Seth Francis Studer~

The lad has it right, that’s mum’s family. I think a couple of her brothers have more affection for her then Seth seems to think they have for her, but he has it pretty close. It is sad, and it is frustrating. I just hope we survive this visit.

Also - Pete's (The cousin) wedding was simply charming.

Man guys, my head hurts. And so does my heart. I hate it when people try to sound all mellow dramatic and say things like that, but my heart really does hurt. It sucks. I don’t care if it sounds poetic, I wish it didn’t.

I

I'm running on three hours of sleep and 6 cups of coffee. I simply cannot 'do' caffine.

Remind me to tell you about Pete's wedding when I don't want to drill my brain out.

Guh.

Hmm

Oh, and here's a bit of weird information. Someone is starting a new paper in town (the other one is a piece of shit.) and they want to interview we Studer ladies for the first issue. The artical will be about our bead buisness of course, and there will be pictures, and what not. It's not that big of a deal, but I think it's kind of fun.

Also - Speaking of pictures. I've been thinking lately that it would be really cool to just have a blog composed entirely of pictures. You know, I'd take a camera with me wherever I go and then post pictures, and my "readers" would have to figure out the story on their own. It would be cool.

I guess I'll think about it.

I watched "Waking Life" yesterday and I really thought it was good. Some of the ideas were a little pretentious I thought, but others hit really close to home and it was just a good thing to give my mind to work on. It was almost relaxing.

Graduation eh?

I “officially” graduated last night, in other words, the ceremony. It was actually pretty nice. Our ceremonies are always pretty intimate, we’re able to do that because it’s a fairly small school group. Graduation night is usually some music, awards given out to the rest of the school group, and then the graduates get personally congratulated, their awards or accomplishments are mentioned, yadda, yadda, yadda, and then their parents get to talk for a bit. Like I said, pretty intimate, and very personal. There were probably only a hundred and fifty people there last night.

So, the music was really cool, there’s these two families in our group that are TOTAL overachievers, and they played the music. Their kids are amazing, they have a six year old who can play like, five instruments, and write her own music. And their fifteen year old girl and thirteen year old boy… wow… they’re just crazy. They’re so talented.

Wow, I get distracted easily, heh, sorry. So yeah, I was the last graduate. I knew Mom was going to cry when she had to give the speech, I was just hoping that I wouldn’t cry when SHE started to cry… heh… it was so sweet though. Her and Dad both said so many nice things, and they didn’t drone on and on like the other parents. It was just sweet.

There was a little reception afterwards, and after I hugged and took pictures with all the people I needed to, Cody, Cassidy, and Laura helped me ditch the place for a while. We walked to Cassidy’s house, bare footed and in the middle of the street of course. That was really nice, and although I have a serious blister now because I was an idiot and walked so far without shoes, it was fun. We dipped our feet in her pool, said hi to her dog King Tut, jumped on her trampoline (in dresses no less!), and yadda yadda yadda yadda.

It was just one of those nights, that’s like, the essence of summer. The sky is dark, but it’s still bright, and there are lightning bugs, and you don’t mind if you’re in the dinky little Iowa town of Shellsburg walking through the empty streets barefooted.

*sigh* It was really cute, Dad bought me a bouquet of flowers on his way home from work, and apparently at the florists he picked them out himself. I mean, he actually chose all the flowers himself, and had the bouquet made. I’ll have to take a picture of it later.

Oh, and here’s a couple of pictures of Soph and I before we left last night. She’s a little blonde in a pink dress, and I’m totally frumping it out with my brunette self in a ribbon skirt from India. Good times.

~

Please touch me,
Please hear me,
Get away from me,
You don’t know.

I want to dive down,
Into the dark sea,
I want to run my fingers,
Through the white sand,
I want to find pearls,
I want to bring them,
Up to the shore,
And lay them at your feet.

I want you to see me,
But don’t just see me,
I want you to know.

The last few

I’ve felt very nostalgic these last couple of days, very melancholy. There are a couple of fun things I wanted to mention on here though.

~On Saturday Erik and Nile’s gymnastics place had an “Awards Banquet” and those two little dudes got so many awards, I was so proud of them.

~I saw Lincoln for possibly the last time for quite a while yesterday. It was weird, I gave him his grad card, and we joked about the ‘perks’ of all this graduation crap… it was nice. I sat with Mel, Audry and him at church, it’s really nice to see Mel and him together. They’re perfect for each other, I don’t know what they’re going to do while he’s away being insane at boot camp…

… we’ll end this Lincoln bit with quotes from yesterday. These are so Lincoln.

Lincoln was sitting next to me, and I noticed he was staring at my shoes… hippie-ish macramé sandals of course…

Lincoln: “Those look comfortable.”
Camille: “What? My shoes?”
Lincoln: “Yeah.”
Camille: “Are you serious?”
Lincoln: “Yeah, I mean as far as girls shoes go.”
Camille: *Laughs!!!*

Ha, precious moments.

~And this brings us to the third thing I wanted to talk about: The Marshmallow War.

We worked in the yard ALL afternoon yesterday, mowing, digging, just…all sorts of dirty stuff. SO of course we had a campfire at the end of the day, true to Studer form, and dessert was s’mores. Usually, Emily and I try very hard not to get marshmallow all over our faces, but something in me last night made us relax and we let our selves get messy. Then, as we were standing around the fire cooking more marshmallows, I think I said something that offended Emily and the following happened.

*Emily jokingly shoved Camille
*Camille laughed and pushed her back, only with a marshmallow in her hand
*Emily and Camille then dueled with they’re marshmallow roasting sticks, until they broke, and then they got serious
*They proceeded to rub roasted marshmallows in the other persons hair, smacked marshmallows on the other persons neck, arms, legs, back, face, etc.

It was hilarious! We were SUCH a mess, SO freaking sticky… I can’t believe we did it.

~

So yeah, fun…ness?

We be pirates!

Emily and I have had a pirate bit going for a few weeks now, here’s a sample from lunch today.

Camille = Ruby Red the Death Slayer ~ Emily = Morbid Jack Farley

Ruby Red: “Hey there Jack me bucko, I hear that you just got a new booty!”

Morbid Jack: “Aye, that I did.”

Ruby Red: “Nile here was asking about that sailor who is now sleeping wit’ the fishes, he said he couldn’t recall on that there mans naaaaame.”

Morbid Jack: “Well upon me, I can’t remember his name either!”

Ruby Red: “Ak! Why, he was Crusty Tom the peg leg!”

Morib Jack: “Ah, that he was.”

Ruby Red: “Aye. And I think we should all have a moment of silence for Crusty Tom now, and pray that Davey Jones be fair on his poor soul.”

Morbid Jack: “Aye.”

...

Ruby Red: “You know Jack, I never liked ye much.”

Morbid Jack: “Well, I’ve wanted ye dead since the first day I known ye.”

Enough recreational computer time! Back to my project! I give my presentation at one, and then I will be done with highschool work… FOREVER!

*cough*

Star Wars three, The Revenge of the Sith, seen by us today, it was.

Ha! Yeah… it was really great. The script was so awful that it hurt my brain at times, but I still loved it. Yadda yadda... some things sucked, some things kicked total ass.

I have to admit though that right now I am way more excited about seeing Batman Begins, the cast looks so awesome (*cough* Christian *cough*), I love the what I’ve seen of the style… mmm. It looks sensational.

Yesterday was craaaaaaaaaazy.

-I had an eye appointment, my eyes have only slightly changed which is fantastic because I HATE the idea of my eyes getting worse, uggg. I hate having to wear glasses, it makes me feel like a broken girl. “See? Even her eyes need help.” I do however, enjoy picking out cool frames and what not. I found some awesome army green Valenteno ones that I really liked, but they were a little heavy so I think I’m going to go with some half-rimmed Union ones. Anyways, pics to come! And I also ordered contacts (Yay for tennis!), which will come in tomorrow, and then I have to go back to the damned optometrist and learn how to safely use them. Oh the woes of a girl with broken eyes!!!

-Lots of other random crap, Fellers, Cinda, and then to CR!

-Mom and I got most of the decorations for my party, and you guys, I wish you could all come. It’s not going to be as lame as I thought it was going to be. We went to Pier One and bought red bamboo table runners, gold candles that smell SO good, stone cast vases that match the dark brown bronze candle holders we bought, red silk poppies for the vases (So pretty!!!), bowls, and a red draping net like tent thing that we’re going to hang over the dessert table!!! It’s intense! We also got the plastic dinner ware for everyone, which you have to buy considering theres might be about 200 people there, but I made the best out of having to buy plastic plates and etc! I got red plates and cups, but THEN, I found the coolest GOLD silverware and napkins! Ha! It’s so tacky I love it.

So yes, my party is going to be red and gold, just like my room is. It’s going to have a Morrocan/Eastern Indian flair… just like so many things I love have!

Ahem, yes, so that was fun.

You’re all invited to come eat cake and chocolates with gold forks.

Wow, today

-Worked on research essay for honors project for HOURS. I feel like I have all these wonderful resources, and I’m just puking out a crappy piece of work that’s so pale in comparison. I know the history of beads might not seem interesting, but we have so many fascinating, RICH books, that were so intensely written, and I feel like I’m offending them with this stupid paper. Mom says I need to chill.

-Ran into Lydia, the girl who has had this serious jealousy/competition thing going on with me since I met her, and I don’t know why! I just don’t get it, I never did anything to spur it on…. That’s just how she is with me. She totally hounded me about my future college plans, SHE graduated last year, EARLY of course, so she had plenty of advice to give me… HA. Man, she’s just… insanity on a stick.

-Speaking of insanity on a stick, this afternoon I found out that Lincoln joined the army. He leaves June 2nd for boot camp, then he’ll train until December, come back for a visit, and then go for a five year program. GAH! He’s lost, his mind, and his freedom!

-Cassidy told me about the Greenday concert, it sounded fantastic. I tried to get tickets for the Des Moines and Quad Cities shows tonight but all the seat left were crap. WHY DID I CRAP OUT ON GOING TO THE CR SHOW??? So…. No Greenday. Oh well, worse things happen.

-Chelsea called tonight, we talked things out, she loves me again. How can you resist the angel that I am? Impossible, it is.

-I JEST!

-Um, we have tickets for the opening day of ‘The Revenge of the Sith’, and I’m looking forward to that, even though it will probably suck.

Goodnight world, and remember, mold is also known as ‘silent death’!!!

Someday...

... I'll be there. So help me.

Good thing too.

My project is falling into place, and just in time, the deadline is Friday. I’m amazed that I’ve been so stubborn in doing this, I am not a friend to procrastination in any part of my life really… this is most unusual.

Random good news from yesterday – I made three one handed back hands IN while playing tennis with Emily, and they were all consecutive returns. I’ve been doing two handed backhands, and they were almost always long, but I think doing a one handed instead will help me immensely.

Sunday, May 15, 2005

Hmmm

I've decided what I want for my next birthday.

Sweet.

Saturday, May 14, 2005

Oops.

Ug!

My glasses broke today!

Not my plastic frames, but the wire rim ones I’ve been wearing. I’ve gotten really used to wearing them…and I did not want to switch back to my plastics, but I guess I have to until we can get new ones picked out. Hopefully we’ll go up to the optometrists on Monday.

It was quite dramatic though, I was sitting on my bedroom floor with my back up against the wall. Emily and I had just brought that desk I mentioned before up from the shed, and that is QUITE the hauling job believe you me. So we plopped down on the floor the second the thing was in my room. I leaned back, noticed my glasses were dusty, took them off and started to wipe them on the bottom of my shirt when…

…snap. The left rim on the top broke in two. Very, very dramatic. The parentlings weren't mad at all, they were older glasses anyways... still though. *pout*

Rafael Nadal

Explaining the picture below: The guy with the great tan is Rafael Nadal, and he is a tennis player form Spain. The girls have decided that he is MY player, as Andy is Laura’s, and Rodger is Emily’s. He’s 18, and he is an amazing player, very quick, very strong. He’s right handed, but he plays left handed, which is very cool. He speaks horrible, horrible English though. Anyways, so the girls and I (All in jest though) pretend that he and I have a ‘relationship’. I call him Ralph, and we both love each other very much but we have communication problems. I am always mad at Ralph, because he doesn’t understand me, and he always cries because he thinks I’m saying things that I’m not! HA! We have a translator named Bob who lives with us, but Bob can only help us so much. Somehow, we’ve managed to stay together, despite the communication problems. He loves the hot chocolate I make.

HA ha ha ha… it’s quite entertaining, yet another one of the fictions we Studers have going. We must have hundreds.

A sad (and true) note about Rafael though, is that his hands are in wretched shape right now, blisters, wear cuts, etc, and they’re not sure if he will be able to play in the French Open. Rafael was expected to win the French Open this year, because of the recent improvement in his game and the fact that it’s a clay court, and of course that’s Rafael’s specialty considering he’s from Spain. I hope he heals up in time.

soooooooooo

I’ve been really paranoid lately about accidentally hurting someone, physically speaking. It’s really weird, I’m a safe driver (Yes Seth, fast, but alert.) but lately I’ve just been so fidgety behind the wheel, at least when I’m not big roads where there might be pedestrians, there I’m fine. It’s just freaking me out. I don’t want to hurt anyone.

Also – I’m totally ticked off at Diane, and Natalie Portman, and both for hair reasons.

a.) Diane will not cut my hair any shorter then she already has. I had an appointment today, and I walk in the door, and this is a direct quote: “Hey Camille, how are you? Good? Good. Listen, I’m not cutting anymore then an inch. That’s it. A trim.” Ugg! She’s been like this for months now! She doesn’t want me to cut my hair, and she knows I won’t let anyone else do it, so I’m stuck!

b.) Natalie Portman, she is all embracing her new shaved head, and I’ve wanted a shaved head for a reallllly long time, but now I’ll look like a imitating poser! Geez!

It probably doesn’t make any difference anyways I guess, considering Diane wouldn’t shave my head either. Bah.

I cleaned our (the girl’s) bathroom tonight. I totally bleached the heck out of the shower, Emily said it smelled like a pool. I am a HUGE fan of bleach. One minor problem tonight though, was when I sort of, um, spilled it on that infamous wound on my knee. Oops? Yeah, the pain was a little… heh… INTENSE… but I forgave bleach immediately.

Do I have a problem? Is bleach a weird thing to be crazy about? It really is the essence of clean.

I think Chelsea is mad at me… uggg. Friends are a PAIN people. MAN. So I probably have to call her and talk for like three hours and patch things up, even though I don't know what I did besides being freaking busy but I can't help that!

Oh, and I think I'm going to move a desk into my room. It will make my room look less 'kick-ass perfect' as they say but I need a place to write. I'm going to put it right in front of my window.

I'll be able to look out at my tree then.

Way too early.

I, i, i, i, i, I'm waiting for my man...

Other then that, I wish Laura would get kicked off the computer again. I find myself getting up super early to check my e-mail and the like, which is why I'm sitting here and the birds are chirping.

There was a 'Killer' thunderstorm last night. The wind was out of the northeast, so I could have my windows open and I LOVE having my windows open during a thunderstorm. Seriously, it's the best way to fall to sleep at night. The storm lasted a really long time, it started whilst I was exercising, lasted all through my dead sea mud mask (MESSY!!!), shower, reading, and finally falling asleep. A great storm.

The only problem with this cool stormy weather is that it's been like this for three days now, and we haven't played tennis in three days. Which my friends needless to say is NOT GOOD.

Also - The Real ID issue passed. Strangely enough, I think it's a fine idea. 'Mark of the beast' my ass, it's going to take away a lot of confusion and it'll be a better system for the country as a whole. Break it down.

And now we have my guilty radio pleasures. I try to get the girls to listen to good music, but after five minutes of The Clash I get a "Let's just see what's on the radio, heh." *Evil little sister turns dial* Ah well, they have 'prep-ish' tendencies to be sure, but maybe they'll grow out of it. I do have a few guilty pleasures of my own...

'Top 40' guilty pleasures...

Um

Greenday was in CR tonight. I was a loser, and didn't know if I would be able to make the concert, and waited to long and the tickets sold out. So, I went to dance wearing a Greenday shirt and missed them.

However, Seth just called and said they're going to be in Des Moines in September, and I'm going to buy tickets tomorrow. Fate, just smiled a little on me.

I don't really care.

Gail came in this morning, for one of the last school meetings I will have with her I guess, that felt weird. It went well I suppose, she thinks I'm doing fine with my project, and that I'll do fine in the rest of my life, etc. Ha, I'm never afraid to freak out in front of Gail. Well, I'm never afraid to tell her I'm freaking out at least.

I don't really know if I've been freaking out lately though, I've just been really pessimistic. About way too much. I don't know, I've been indifferent too. I feel like I don't have time for much right now... I'm having to do all this stuff, and I'm not really excited about any of it. I'm just a mess I guess. I still laugh though, which is good. Of course I got yelled at today because I couldn't stop cracking jokes and one time Mom was on the phone and the girls and I were just laughing our heads off... oh man... it was choice... but Mom got ticked off, and for good reason I suppose.

Wow, that was about NOTHING. Heh. I'm really tired tonight. I was a zombie at dance. WE would start a routine and I would be like "Huh...wha? Oh, right...I guess I should what...dance?". Yeah... so that was hot.

My fricken knee injury will not heal... it keeps bleeding... man, tennis is dangerous.

Tuesday, May 10, 2005

Also...

I didn't get to play tennis today, which is sad.

I've decided that playing tennis at night with the court lights on is by far the best, there is just something about being able to only see the lines of the court, the high silver fence caging us happily in, and it's tall bright lights... mmm... the best.

Man...

...today was insane, I was doing something from 9 in the morning until 10 tonight... Craziness! We've got my invitations for my party almost done now though, it's not as good as I hoped it would be, but it'll do. The paper we had them printed on is gold/toupe-ish, and we're using star/sun/swirl stamps...and I'm putting gold glitter and stars in them so when the people open them they'll get a sparkly surprise. Muhahahaha. I guess the only thing I really don't like is the picture we had to use, eh, because it's not me senior picture, because I haven't had them taken yet! We took these last fall, and I think they're pretty NASTY/blahzay, but I'm really starting to become numb about the whole thing. Why do we Midwest people make such a huge deal about these parties? And high school football? What is up?

We have already received invitations for 9 graduations, and 4 weddings within 32 days of each other, and we're hosting my party within that period as well. And we haven't even gotten all the invites we expect to get yet! Oi vey!

I dunno, we'll survive I guess.

Pictures...

I found some old ones that I thought were kind of fun, and I took some weird ones today as well. Sometimes it's just fun to walk around the house with the camera and see what you can find. Anyways, that's that.
